My name is Livia Baldanza and I was born in Milan in 1983. I’m graduated in painting at Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan and since two years I live and work in Lisbon.
I’m a young artist at the beginning of my career, actually competing some prizes, looking for a gallery and working on others independent projects to find the opportunity to show my work.
My artistic background is mainly painting but when I start my research with the study of human anatomy and the body I begin to establish a sculpture work. I became interested in this theme when I understood that our body is the only real material and spiritual posses.
Since then I start depicting the body from the interior and then move the investigation on a more abstract imaginary.
My pieces have the intention to reconnect the spectator with the terrain part of himself and the truth of the body. The reference came from anthropological, psychological and philosophical issues, which trough I process my images and create a work with the intention of rebuilding a harmony.
My materials are tactile organic and warm; ceramic, earth, wool and fabric. Sometimes are in contrast with the material of nowadays, the plastic. There are warm and healing and I choose them because I feel a strong emotionalism and power to stimulate our senses, our relation with nature and our sense of consciousness.
